| Saludos User, In every city you'll find crime it depends on wich area of the city you live, how much you show your things. I don't know how is Mexico but as I've heard its worst there than here, so it's a good opcion to live here. To hire a maid, it's very easy and not to expensive, mm and the cost of living here depends on how much do you like to spend. About the cars, you can have any car here, from a Viper to a Dodge, from a ferrari to Mazda... And to say the life here it's pretty cool most of the time if you dont get in troubles you'll be ok and safe. And of course our women are very very beautiful... if you need any thing you can send me an email...

| Hi User, welcome to our forums and to our beautiful Guatemala. Regarding your questions, I can tell you "gringos" are very well treated here, for most of the population the US is a dream. Although I don't like Bush and U.S. foreign policy, I have several American friends. Regarding pollution, we are way, way better than Mexico, I believe Mexico City is the most polluted city in the World. Here you will find some industrial and poor areas with pollution but I am sure with the salary you will be getting you will find a beautiful place to live in an exclusive area (no doubt about that) Crime... it's almost the same in all of Latin America, I wouldn't recommend buying a japanese car as they are the ones thieves look for. My recommendation based on insurance companies reports would be a Volvo, Peugeot or Audi. Prices in the US are cheaper exept for Peugeot which doesn't exist in the US but they have very good and nice looking cars. Service for these cars is very good. Avoiding american sedans and small cars as there are no replacement parts for most of them. If you want an American car then you should think of a Jeep Cherokee, Chevrolet Blazer or Ford truck... however our streets are not the best in the world and American cars are infamous for falling to pieces very soon (that's because you sent the factories to Mexico instead of Guatemala!!!) We only have 2 seasons here... right now we are in "our" winter, which means that it rains a lot until november with high temperatures. Then it will cool down until late february and then the temperature starts raising again. Rains usually start in late may but they are periodical, and then in august it rains every week. There are many good schools with classes both in English and Spanish. Regarding maids, the average salary would be around $125 to $150 per month for a person living with your family with sundays free. When you get here try to avoid showing any laptop computer or any objects of value, as tourists are always an easy target for thieves. I hope this information is usefull and that you will have a great time. You can find touristic information on this same site in their tourism section, there are many beautiful places to go and see and amaze yourself...
